We have planned a number of activities throughout the weekend.  We want everyone to get a taste of what makes Iceland such a unique and special place.  If you can, we recommend that you spend a few extra days exploring Iceland. 

Of course, only the wedding and reception are mandatory for the weekend (ha ha), but we do hope that you will join us for as much of the fun as you can.

Friday, May 23

On Friday, we will have a tour of Iceland’s

Included in the tour will be the Gulfoss waterfall, the geysers of Geysir (the oldest known and namesake of all naturally occurring erupting hot springs), and Thingvellir National Park.

Saturday, May 24

Wedding – 6:00 pm

The Wedding Ceremony will take place at 6:00 pm at Domkirkjan, which is located in the center of town, and is a short walk from Hotel Centrum, Room with a View as well as many other hotels and guest houses.

Domkirkjan is Iceland’s oldest church; a place of worship has existed on this site since 1200 AD.  The small, charming church, built 1788-96, represents the state religion, Lutheranism. It was here that sovereignty and independence were first blessed and endorsed by the church. It's also where Iceland's national anthem, actually a hymn, was first sung in 1874. Since 1845, members and cabinet ministers of every Alþing parliament have gathered here for a service before the annual session.

It is also very special for us as it is where Lara’s parent were married, as were many other members of her family and their friends.

Address: Salavegi 2 – Kopavogi

The reception will start at 7:00 at Glersalurinn with cocktails.  Dinner and dancing will follow.  Glersalurinn is a short cab ride away from the church.
